Each Destiny user is considered a patron and must have a patron record that associates them with the materials they check out, fines they incur and any other patron transactions.

The standard method for adding or updating patron records is through the Patron Import Converter at the district level. However, site users can also add patron information manually.

Note: Follett recommends that you use the Patron Import Converter utility, as it is faster and easier. Be sure to check with the Destiny Administrator or Patron Manager before updating or deleting any patrons, as your district or site may have specific guidelines for patron management.

The functions a patron can perform are defined by their access levels. Following are some common tasks:

  • Searching
  • Cataloging
  • Reporting
  • Circulating
  • Setting up policies
